This strikingly good looking gentleman is a very elegant living presence from another time. Portrait of a handsome Zurich gentleman of the Biedermeier period by Karl Friedrich Irminger (), a well known Zurich-based portraitist, engraver and lithographer. Irminger’s works included portaits of military men, caricatures, and illustrations for Zurich “New Year’s Sheets” (Neujahrsblaetter). Despite his successful early career, Irminger died in deep poverty in March . This is a carefully digitally restored version of the original antique lithograph in the Village Antiques collection.
